The Virtual K&C Test Bench from IPG
IPGKinematics
You can probably use a CAD system to design the pure kinematics of an axle - as long as you understand its language. However, it is usually not so easy to handle compliance effects with the same software. With IPGKinematics, the virtual k&c test bench, it is no problem.
Areas of application for IPGKinematics
IPGKinematics calculates all information the chassis engineer needs to optimize the design
- Wheel travel kinematics
- Steering kinematics
- Compliance effects
Output parameters
The parameters calculated by IPGKinematics range from toe-in angle, track-lever radius and steering differential angle to the inherent structural frequency and control-arm and bearing forces.
The axle kinematics can also be passed directly to a vehicle dynamics model via an export interface.
Wheel suspensions
The range of standard constructions covers all axle constructions available and is being continually extended as new requirements arise. All front axles are available with the options of rack and pinion steering or a recirculating ball and nut steering gear.
The axle spring can be connected to any part of the wheel suspension in all front and rear axles. Axle suspension is also available via a pull /pushrod for use in motor racing.
