HD Scenarios for Movie NX

We develop our HD Scenarios specifically to demonstrate complex, highly detailed environments in Movie NX to show how close to reality virtual test driving can be. These scenarios are available as compressed .zip files and can be downloaded from the customer area on the IPG Automotive website. After unzipping, you have access to a ready-to-use project folder supported by the current CarMaker version and the corresponding Movie NX installation.

Each HD Scenario contains one or more Test Runs to be simulated and visualized in Movie NX. Please note the following limitations:

  • Use the predefined routes and predefined maneuvers for simulation. Deviating, self-implemented routes and maneuvers can lead to errors in simulation. These errors range from unrealistic behavior (e.g. driving through 3D objects) to the simulation being aborted.
  • Do not change the scene (changes to the road network, creating terrain or adding 3D objects). This conflicts with the idea of creating an optimized scene for a defined scenario.
  • Traffic lights can light up according to their defined control algorithms. Traffic lights have no automatic influence on the ego vehicle and other traffic objects and are not considered, if they have not been prepared as such in the road and HD Scenario.
  • The environment parameters cannot be edited in all HD Scenarios. The weather is fixed in general and cannot be changed. Only the HD Scenario UK_Highway_Dry can be changed in this regard.
  • A simulation in combination with CarMaker Office Extended or CarMaker HIL on a real-time host is not recommended as real time cannot be guaranteed.
  • HD Scenarios are complex and have a higher requirement on hardware. For optimal performance, a powerful operating computer is recommended.
  • HD Scenarios can use a custom camera preset that is selectable in Movie NX under Camera > Camera settings. For an improved visual experience, use the custom camera preset.

Any questions or feedback regarding HD Scenarios can be sent to our engineers from the IPG Automotive Solutions Engineering team.
