DDS Integration within CarMaker

Integration for Enabling Connection with AD/ADAS Software

Data distribution systems such as the Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard have gained more and more attention in the last decade. These systems represent suitable solutions for effective and high-performance data communication for challenging application scenarios with real-time requirements, such virtual vehicle testing. IPG Carmaker is a well-known simulation software for virtual test driving of automobiles for different application areas such Autonomous Vehicles (AD), ADAS and vehicle dynamics. Software integration in Carmaker is done through MATLAB/Simulink, FMU standard or C++ User-defined code. This work presents a DDS integration into IPG Carmaker, enabling a flexible interface that could be connected to any external software. Results for a vehicle controlled by external AD software are shown, proving the correct behavior of the approach.
