Release 15.0 CarMaker product family

Feature highlights

Ground truth sensor for autonomous development

The ground truth sensor is a central, high-performance source for customizable ground truth data. It supports precise detection of objects like road elements, traffic participants, and vehicle metadata.

The sensor visualizes all static and dynamic detections, with the option to highlight specific elements using customizable colors. It handles complex aspects like occlusion with perfect accuracy, ensuring reliable data for simulation, testing, and algorithm development. The sensor is continuously improved to meet evolving industry needs in the areas of ADAS and autonomous driving.

MotorcycleMaker: Electrifying two-wheel development

IPG Automotive is expanding its simulation capabilities to support the growing e-mobility trend in the two-wheeler sector. With the release of MotorcycleMaker, developers can simulate electric drivetrains for motorcycles, scooters, and small motorbikes with exceptional realism and flexibility.

The new features enable accurate virtual prototyping and early-stage testing, making it easier to design, evaluate, and optimize electric two-wheelers.

Enhanced road modeling with CarMaker and OpenDRIVE 1.8

No matter what road you drive on, it is never perfectly flat. Real roads have subtle slopes, banked curves, and various lateral surface variations that make every road section unique. To bring this realism into simulation, such effects need to be modeled.

With OpenDRIVE 1.8 and the introduction of the cross section surface, ASAM has established a standardized way to describe the lateral surface elevation of roads.

With the latest release of the CarMaker product family, we fully support the standardized cross section surface definition for both import and export, making it a powerful new modeling capability to build highly realistic virtual road networks. Users can select from a variety of lateral profiles to achieve an accurate representation of challenging road conditions.

Virtual ECU development with Synopsys Silver integration in CarMaker

The latest release strengthens the integration between CarMaker and Synopsys Silver, enabling earlier and more efficient ECU testing through the shift-left approach. Developers benefit from direct support of Silver virtual bus (SVB) in CarMaker, allowing seamless message-based setups and communication.

The toolchain now supports the integration of multiple virtual ECUs from a single Synopsys Silver instance into CarMaker with improved model handling and alignment. These enhancements streamline workflows, reduce development time, and increase system maturity earlier in the process, boosting scalability and simulation fidelity across projects.

Road-to-rig shift for endurance testing

With CarMaker 15.0, endurance testing takes a major step forward. The new release enables a seamless shift from real-world driving tests to virtual test rigs, saving time and effort. Enhanced interaction between dynamic traffic participants, more realistic intersection behavior, and human-like traffic contribute to more accurate and efficient simulations. Improved path planning also supports better highway exit detection. These advancements help to bring real-world complexity into your virtual testing environment.

RSDA: New modular data pipeline for raw sensor data

CarMaker 15.0 introduces raw signal data access (RSDA). RSDA is a new modular data pipeline designed for fast raw sensor data access and transfer. It enables low-latency access and processing, making it ideal for any perception-based application. With customizable user plug-in and user client components, developers can flexibly access, process, and transfer sensor data to target applications. RSDA supports GPUdirect RDMA for high-speed data transfer and integrates seamlessly with sensors simulated in CarMaker, offering a powerful solution for real-time data workflows in advanced simulation setups.
