Efficient regression tests for stable software updates
Regression tests prevent situations where software updates impair existing functionality. Validating vehicle functions in the cloud using scalable CI/CT/CD processes
The share of software in vehicles keeps growing – and the development process needs to adjust to this new reality. New versions must be tested continuously. A CI/CT/CD environment enables the automated integration, testing and distribution of software, while test cases are being generated based on requirements, and implemented in cloud simulations. Real-time capable physical tire models for realistic HIL tests in ECU development
Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) is an integral part of control unit development. Traditionally, this has been based on simple, empirical tire models. While these provide fast calculation, they are unable to deal with exceptional driving situations. With a real-time capable physical tire model, complex scenarios such as ABS braking on uneven surfaces or sudden loss of tire pressure can be simulated, and control units can be tested under more realistic conditions.
Vehicle-in-the-loop and CarMaker for the validation of driver assistance systems according to regulatory requirements
Before being used in actual vehicles, driver assistance systems must be tested in accordance with specific regulations. The vehicle-in-the-loop method enables the creation of a report needed for the approval of a lane departure warning system under the UN/ECE regulation. For this purpose, CarMaker creates a reliable simulation toolchain to run the simulation-based validation of maneuver variants across the entire operational range.
Developing a multi-layer laser scanner for the prevention of accidents
Approximately 55% of accidents involving pedestrians occur when a vehicle is backing up. To reduce such accidents and to improve safety when backing up forklifts, industrial truck manufacturer Linde uses a multi-layer laser scanner (lidar) to monitor the surroundings. The functionality of this scanner in various scenarios (based on ISO 22737) was simulated and tested in a virtual test drive using CarMaker, generating reproducible results that will help prevent dangerous situations and develop safer forklifts.
