IPG Automotive and Formula Student Alpe Adria announce the inaugural Virtual AutoX Competition at FSAA25

IPG Automotive and Formula Student Alpe Adria (FSAA) are proud to announce the launch of the Virtual AutoX Competition by IPG Automotive, an innovative new challenge premiering at FSAA25 this summer in Mičevec, Croatia. Powered by CarMaker, this unique simulation-based competition brings state-of-the-art virtual vehicle testing directly to the paddock, offering drivers a new way to showcase their performance and precision.

Competition format 

When 

August 12–14, 2025 (during FSAA25) 

Where 

FSAA25 paddock, Mičevec, Croatia 

Slots 

18 per day, every 30 minutes, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. 

Booking 

From August 4, 1:00 p.m. to August 13, 12:59 p.m. via Doodle links: EV  & CV

Each team can book a 30-minute simulator session, structured as follows: 

  • 10 minutes: Introduction to CarMaker from IPG Automotive and the simulator 

  • 10 minutes: Driver 1 – 3 practice laps + 3 timed laps 

  • 10 minutes: Driver 2 – 3 practice laps + 3 timed laps 

Two standardized vehicle models will be used: CV for combustion teams and EV for electric teams. Both models will carry the iconic FSAA inscription known from the Virtual Formula Student Alpe Adria series. 

The competition uses the same virtual setups for all teams – only the driver’s skill determines the result. 
The fastest driver of the event will be awarded the Virtual AutoX Award during the official FSAA closing ceremony. 

How to register 

1.     Apply for the Formula CarMaker program 
Visit the official IPG Automotive website to apply and receive your CarMaker license and download link

2.     Create a representative model of your team’s car

A reference Formula Student model is provided, and the process is described in detail in the CarMaker manual.

  • Max. power 
  • Curb weight 
  • Wheelbase 
  • Track width 

Note: These models will not be used in the competition, only for training and familiarization. 

3.    Book your slot using the Doodle links provided to team leaders

Registration is open from August 4 at 1:00 p.m. until August 13 at 12:59 p.m. 

Virtual fun for everyone on August 15 and 16  

After the official competition ends, the simulator will remain open to all team members, volunteers, officials, and spectators. 

To ensure fair play, non-driver participants will race on the virtual FSAA Circuit (not the Endurance layout used in the competition).

Virtual AutoX Competition

Simulation-powered showdown takes place August 12–14, 2025 in Mičevec, with open virtual testing through August 16.
